Jarren's first Christmas

Well, it's a bit late. But finally finished the long delayed editing. The first is Jarren's first unboxing and the 2nd his first lite-up.

Jarren on all fours

Well, it's old news by now but Jarren's been crawling on all fours for the past week or so.

In fact, he's already starting to stand on his own and make tentative first steps, albeit supported using his arms (sometimes he even uses only one arm to support himself).
More videos of that another day...

Jarren's progress report

Well, Jarren's 3/4 of his way towards his first birthday.
He's getting more mobile now and prefers crawling around to sitting and play.
Used to be that we could just leave him with his favourite toy and expect him to entertain himself. Now, it's a matter of minutes (or even seconds...) before he tries to crawl elsewhere.
Here's a video of him taking his anger out of some toy fruits.
Guess he has quite a temper ;-)

iPhone again

Thought I would put a link to this interesting arcticle about the new Apple toy -> http://www.kottke.org/07/01/iphone-roundup

Note that I am not a Apple fan-boy. Far from it, since I have not owned any Apple produxt (Yes, including the famous IPOD). My argument has always been that it does not make sense to pay for that extra user-friendliness, especially for geeks (like me...).

However, the iPhone really intrigues me though, and here's an extract from the article above that resonates with me.

What's really kind of sad about the intensely exuberant reaction to the iPhone is that the situation with current mobile phones are so bad in the first place. It's not like we didn't see any of this coming or couldn't imagine the utility of the iPhone's features.

What I would like to say is really why no other companies have thought of it ... Or maybe they did, but thought it's better to maintain the status quo since no one else is doing any better.

Best example is Microsoft. Multiple releases of their mobile OS and we still need to install an app to close any application instead of "smart" minimizing. I mean, have they really interviewed users to find out what is our perference ??? At least, give us an option in the setting menu.

At the very least, the iPhone might be an awakening call for the rest of the mobile makers.

Apple IPhone

Been too busy lately to update the blog...

But read about the new iphone from Apple on the internet. Take a look yourself -> http://www.apple.com/iphone/

Felt really good after going through the demo. It's not just the look factor but the user interface is also really solid... It's like Apple had read my mind and designed the exact device to suit my needs. Only way they could do better is to add telepathic control ;-)

Heard from someone that it will be available in Singapore later half of the year at S$799 but this is not confirmed news though. If the iPhone works exactly like how it appeared on the demo, then it could be time to drop my Dopod and switch to something more sexy :-)

Happy New Year !

At last, scientific proof that having kids lowers your life expectancy. I've always been having this nagging thought ever since the new addition but was not expecting to be able to prove this ;-)

http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn10875-large-families-linked-to-reduced-parents-lifespan.html

An exaggeration once you have read the article but it's still fun to read.
We should just show the heading to naughty children to let them know how stressful parenting is.

So I was rather lazy during the recent break, not updating the blog.
But have to admit that these long holidays can sometimes be more tiring than working. But I'm lucky since my mum-in-law was helpful enough to come even during the holidays.

Hopefully I'll get down to actually finishing those "holiday" videos as well so stay tuned :-)

Darwin Award

When you're free, take a look at this website -> http://www.darwinawards.com/

It's rather tongue-in-cheek and it's not too nice to laugh at other's demise.
But what the heck, it's only for fun and it does provides some negative examples of what not to do if you want to extend your life expentancy :-)
